Looking to destress with a furry friend? Two cat lounges offer ways to befriend or adopt cats and kittens while supporting three animal shelters near Holland.
Holland Cat Cove and Lazy Cat Lounge and Consignment Shop both opened within the last year, and provide a place to play and relax with cats of all sizes, colors and ages. Fall in love? You can adopt, too.
Lazy Cat Lounge and Consignment Shop is located at 6674 Blair Lane in Olive Township and partners with two shelters: Piper’s Place and Kittens in the Mitten. The business’ owner, Wendee Hofbauer-Drees, launched Piper’s Place in 2019 — named after her late cat.
Lazy Cat Lounge is open 3-7 p.m. Tuesdays-Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursdays, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays. The cost for admission is $10, with discounts available to students, teachers and military members. There’s also a consignment shop with purchasable merchandise from eight local vendors.
Lazy Cat Lounge hosts a number of events — including “Stitch and B*tch,” which centers on crafting and conversation. The event runs 12-2 p.m. Mondays for $5.
Holland Cat Cove, located at 76 E. Lakewood Boulevard in Holland, partners with Harbor Humane and is owned by Jennifer Siege. The business is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays.
Reservations are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome, as long as there’s availability. Each visit (which lasts 50 minutes) costs $10 for students, seniors and military members, according to the business’ website, and $13 for others.
Holland Cat Cove offers beverages like pop, kombucha, coffee and tea, as well as snacks. The business also hosts a number of events, including silent book club and cat yoga.
