Livingston County rivals will meet to open boys basketball districts

The rubber match of the boys basketball rivalry between Brighton and Howell will likely decide who gets a rubber match with Hartland in the district tournament at Fenton.

Brighton and Howell drew one another for a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25. Hartland will play in the first game that night at 5:30 against the winner of a first-round game between Milford and Fenton.

Hartland, winner of the KLAA West, is the top seed in the district. The Eagles were 17-3 when districts were drawn, Milford was 11-9 and Fenton was 3-17.

Brighton and Howell were both 13-7. Each team won on the other’s home court this season.

The Eagles have been the top team in Livingston County this season, but they lost their last two rivalry games while star guard Parker Sundman was out with an injury. His availability for districts could determine if the Eagles take the title or the door opens for another team.
