HILLSDALE COUNTY — The first full month of track and field events is about complete for Hillsdale County ISD varsity programs. It’s time to take a look at which athletes have dominated the early Hillsdale Area Best standings for boys track and field events.
Returning state champion hurdler Dawson Scharer of Hillsdale Academy leads both the 110-meter and the 300 hurdle standings. Not surprisingly, the senior Colt also is first in the 100 dash and second in the 200-meter sprint.
Meanwhile, the Hillsdale Hornets nearly hold all field event No. 1 slots. Mason Town leads shot put with his 44-feet, 6-inch throw at Ralph Rice. Blaise Mayers throw of 126-feet, 9 inches at Napoleon on April 10 leads discus, with his teammate Town closely behind him. Thornsbury recently cleared 6-feet, 4 inches in high jump, sitting at No. 1. His teammate Robert Garcia is close behind him in the standings. Meanwhile, senior Carter Myers has the best pole vault height of the season so far. Hillsdale also has the best 4×100 relay team in the County.
Camden-Frontier senior Dylan Drake currently holds the top long jump spot to round out field event standings.
Hillsdale Area Best athletes will eventually meet up on Tuesday, May 26 for the Hillsdale County Area Best meet held at Hayden Park on the campus of Hillsdale College. The annual meet will crown the top runners and field athletes from the 2026 season.
