Traffic shift on U.S. 127 north of Lansing pushed back a day

LANSING — The traffic shift scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, on U.S. 127 north of Lansing has been postponed until Wednesday, April 29, because of weather, state highway officials said.

The shift of northbound traffic to the southbound side of U.S. 127 is part of this year’s leg of a multi-year improvement project along the freeway corridor in the Lansing area. Crews are repaving the freeway between Interstate 69 in southern Clinton County and Lake Lansing Road in Ingham County.

The southbound side will carry all traffic while crews are working on the northbound side. Later this year, that configuration will be reversed while the southbound lanes are being repaved.

“This traffic control shift will require lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound US-127 between Saginaw Street and I-69,” MDOT said in a news release on April 24. “Please follow the posted detours. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.”
