Schultz Pipis came to the local United Way in March 2018 as the associate director, according to a news release from United Way. In July 2022, she moved into the executive director role upon the retirement of longtime United Way executive director Connie Carroll. The United Way of Monroe/Lenawee Counties turned 100 this year.

Schultz Pipis has worked in the non-profit health and human services sector for 40 years.

“Since September 1986, I have enjoyed working for great causes, helping to address many community needs with a collaborative mindset with lots of like-minded community partners,” Schultz Pipis said in the news release. “I have worked with many wonderful people in all phases of my career. Throughout my career, United Way support has been a thread running through all of it. Prior to working in the United Way, all agencies where I worked were financially supported by the United Way. And for 40 years, I have supported the United Way via payroll deduction, and I encourage others to utilize this simple way to give back exponentially.”

Schultz Pipis said her retirement plans include giving back to the community as a volunteer and traveling.

She said she’s “on a quest to visit all 50 states (only five left) and all continents, if possible.”
