The Jefferson High School class of 2026 stepped out of high school and into the future with their graduation on Thursday evening, May 28.
“Tonight, we celebrate more than diplomas,” said Jefferson School District Superintendent Amy Gee. “We celebrate perseverance, growth, memories, friendships, lessons learned, and the incredible journey that brought each of you to this moment.”
The ceremony was under an hour and included a rendition of the class song, “Rainbow Connection,” and speeches from the class president, salutatorian, and valedictorian. Class president Luke Masserant presented a Key to Class of 2027 to the junior year’s class president, Joshua Masserant.
“Be the light of someone else’s hope, because one small act of kindness can change someone’s day,” Luke said.
Valedictorian Ava Arnold said she would miss her friends and the staff that had helped her along the way, and thanked them for their support.
“But most importantly, I would like to thank God,” she said. “I would not be where I am today without him.”
