Michigan State football is a team to reportedly “keep an eye on” for an elite level quarterback in the 2028 class.
Tom Loy of 247Sports recently published an article on five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II of Detroit. In his post, he stated Michigan State is going to be a real player in his recruitment, with Loy stating there’s “genuine interest” in the new coaching staff and “new blood in the Spartans program.”
Tabron is listed as a five-star quarterback with a recruiting rating of 98.68 in 247Sports’ composite ratings. He ranks as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 3 player from Michigan in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2028 class. Additionally, he is listed as the No. 31 overall prospect in the class.
Michigan State is one of more than 30 schools to offer the Cass Tech High School star quarterback, according to 247Sports. He also holds notable offers from Arizona, Auburn, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, Texas A&M, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Wisconsin and SMU.
There is clearly a long way to go in Tabron’s recruitment, but the fact that Michigan State is getting some “genuine” love and interest from this star prospect is great news. We will have to see if that eventually can lead to a commitment down the road, but for now, that’s some refreshing recruiting news for the Spartans.
