Tigers left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in Venezuela’s WBC quarterfinals win over Japan on Saturday.
Former Detroit pitcher Michael Lorenzen was scheduled to start for Italy but was replaced by Aaron Nola.
The U.S. advanced on Sunday with a 2-1 semifinal win over the Dominican Republic.
