Michigan State football has opened as a double-digit favorite in their season-opener against Toledo.
Opening week betting lines have dropped on DraftKings and to no surprise, Michigan State is listed as a sizable favorite over the Rockets in the opener. But, the betting line may not be as high as you would expect — Michigan State is favored by only 10.5 points over Toledo.
Michigan State enters this upcoming season with low expectations by the national media and many sports books. The Spartans have been pegged as one of the worst teams in the Big Ten and have an over/under win total of only 3.5 games at many sports books.
Given the recent trend of power four schools pulling away from the group of six programs, seeing a betting line of under two touchdowns is surprising. But, there’s a lot of unknowns around both the Spartans and Rockets with new coaching staffs taking over this offseason. It’ll be interesting to see if this number moves at all or stays right around 10.5 by the time we kick off the 2026 season.
Michigan State and Toledo will take the field on September 4 for the season-opener. Kickoff time is set for 8 p.m. ET.
