We’re back with another group of outstanding high schoolers in Livingston County.
Each week, high school principals and staffers in Livingston County share their nominees for Student of the Week with The Daily. We share those honorees online Fridays and in print Sundays.
This week’s students were nominated for academic achievements, personal growth, setting an example and a commitment to service.
Lydia LaMarra, Brighton High School
Lydia is a driven and compassionate senior who’s shown tremendous growth in both her confidence and leadership over the past several years. She’s developed into a more outgoing and impactful presence in our school community, consistently demonstrating responsibility, organization and a strong work ethic.
Lydia’s impact truly shines through her dedication to cross country and track. She’s a two-time all-state runner and back-to-back County Runner of the Year. Her involvement in community volunteering and the National Honor Society and her consistent willingness to give her best effort highlight her character and integrity.
Anna Horne, Fowlerville High School
Anna, a senior and salutatorian, exemplifies academic excellence and dedication through her commitment to a rigorous college preparatory schedule that’s earned her top academic honors. Anna is a member of the National Honor Society and a participant in Girls State.
Anna’s willingness to challenge herself with multiple AP courses reflects her drive and determination, while her role on the tennis team highlights her ability to balance academics with athletics. Anna represents the very best of FHS, serving as a role model for her peers through her work ethic, character and achievements.
Makayla Papalexis, Hartland High School
Makayla, a senior, has done a great job of balancing school, cadet teaching responsibilities and her rigorous cheer schedule. She’s happy and eager to go to her placement weekly, and still finds time to offer help and step up when in class. Makayla is planning to pursue an education degree at Michigan State University.
Makayla has been a leader in our cheer program during her senior year. The time commitment required while maintaining her grades and other responsibilities speaks to her character and values. Makayla has been a mentor for incoming freshmen for the past two years as a LINK Leader. We are so proud to call Makayla a Hartland Eagle!
