Zeeland City Council has confirmed liquor license support for El Rancho, a well-known lakeshore brand planning to expand to 17 E. Main Ave. in the coming months.
Officials recommended numerous approvals to the Michigan Liquor License Commission on Jan. 20, including a license allowing sales on Sundays.
El Rancho, which already has multiple locations in Holland, plans to fill the 4,500-square-foot space with 132 seats. The licenses will permit the sale of beer, wine, mixed drinks and spirits. The restaurant is also seeking an outdoor service permit, a dance permit and an entertainment permit.
The business received site plan and special land use approval from the Zeeland Planning Commission in September 2025, despite concerns from residents about limited parking spaces.
The mixed-use development sits at the crossroads of State Street and Main Avenue and includes 22 residential units and 9,404 total square feet of commercial space.
El Rancho’s menu includes chimichangas, fajitas, burritos, tacos and more. According to Zeeland City Manager Tim Klunder, representatives of the business estimate they’ll open in about seven weeks, but it could be longer.
