MANITOWOC – The Clipper City Chordsmen kicked off the new year with harmony and high honors as Peter Lewellen was named 2025 Barbershopper of the Year.
Presented at the group’s annual banquet at Branch Station in Whitelaw, the award recognizes a member who goes above and beyond in service, leadership and musical excellence, according to a community announcement.
Lewellen, praised by past BOTY recipient Anthony Schreiter, stood out as vice president, music team leader, board member, and a dedicated performer with both the chorus and the popular BarberPops Quartet. He also wrote and directed the chorus’s recent Christmas show, adding another note to his year.
The coveted Spark Plug Award was shared by Andy Eisner and Paul Blair for their exceptional support of the chorus president.
Rookie of the Year went to Casteel Kohlmann, who joined the ensemble in spring 2025.
New officers for 2026 were also installed, continuing the Chordsmen’s 81‑year tradition of community, camaraderie and a cappella artistry. With 35 members ages 22 to 95, the Clipper City Chordsmen keep Manitowoc ringing with classic barbershop harmony.
