PELLSTON — The Pellston Education Foundation awarded nearly $30,000 in scholarships to 11 local students during Pellston High School’s Senior Awards Night.
The Pellston Education Foundation distributed a total of $29,765 in scholarships, more than $10,000 more than the foundation dispersed last year. The foundation is in its fourth year and continues to see growth, according to a June 23 community announcement.
In addition to scholarships, the foundation provides grants to teachers for classroom items and programs outside of their traditional budgets. Learn more at pellstoneducation.org.
This year’s recipients included:
New to this year’s scholarship list are the Calvin and Thelma Gardner Ball Family Scholarships, made possible by a donation from Don Ball and Nancy Higley. The scholarships honor Ball’s parents, who were Pellston graduates.
The June Passino Memorial Scholarship was new this year as well, in honor of a long-time Pellston Elementary School teacher who recently passed away.
