The Detroit Lions announced that the organization has released cornerback Terrion Arnold.
Arnold, 23, was arrested last Wednesday in connection to a robbery and kidnapping case in Florida. Arnold is facing felony charges that carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison.
Detroit’s decision to release Arnold ends his time with the Lions after just two seasons and 24 games played. The 6-foot, 195-pound corner started 22 games with the Lions over his first two seasons in the NFL, totaling 91 tackles, one fumble recovery and one interception.
Arnold’s release costs the Lions $6.66 million in dead cap in 2026 and $4.56 million in dead cap in 2027. Arnold was a first-round NFL draft pick by the Lions in 2024.
The Florida state attorney’s office has accused Arnold of “coordinating and directing the codefendants to lure three men to an apartment where the victims were robbed, beaten, and held at gunpoint.”
In his pre-trial detention hearing on Monday, Arnold was granted a $1 million bond.
During that pre-trial hearing, Chief Judge Christopher C. Sabella found probable cause for Arnold to face charges of armed robbery and kidnapping, but Sabella denied prosecutors’ motion for the Lions cornerback to be held without bond. The state asked the judge to require Arnold to wear an ankle monitor, which the judge denied.
Arnold has denied involvement in the incident. Arnold’s lawyers maintain Arnold’s innocence, saying “there is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations.”
