Detroit Lions re-sign LB Malcolm Rodriguez

The Detroit Lions are re-signing linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez to a one-year deal, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Rodriguez’s 2024 season ended with injury when the 5-foot-11, 230-pound linebacker suffered a torn ACL on Thanksgiving Day during the Lions’ 23-20 win over the Chicago Bears.

The injury meant that Rodriguez wouldn’t return to play until nearly a year later on Nov. 23, 2025, in Detroit’s 34-27 overtime win over the Giants. Rodriguez would appear in seven games last year, starting one. The Oklahoma State alum registered 12 tackles and one tackle for loss across 72 defensive snaps, per Pro Football Focus.

Originally drafted 188th overall in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft, Rodriguez has totaled 164 tackles, three sacks, three passes defended, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Rodriguez has played in 50 games and started 25 in four NFL seasons thus far.
