Michigan’s boating season may be nearing its end, but a chance to set sail on the Great Lakes with a new cruise lineup awaits next summer.
American Cruise Lines is offering three new itinerary options for the Great Lakes in 2026.
“Guests have long asked for our style of cruising on the Great Lakes,” Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines, said in a news release. “We are now proud to offer these cruises as only American can, aboard a new small ship sailing 100% domestically.”

When will the cruises be in the Great Lakes?
The first cruises will depart in May 2026 on the line’s 130-guest American Patriot ship. Departures continue through August.

How much do the Great Lakes cruises cost?
According to American Cruise Lines’ website, cruises range from $8,600 to nearly $15,000. Free airfare is available for some dates, the company said.
How large are the cruise ships?
The Patriot class ships can carry 130 guests across 69 staterooms and five decks. The fourth deck offers suite accommodations ranging from 420 to 620 square feet.

The Great Lakes is made up of five lakes, Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The lakes represent the world’s largest freshwater system and are a major shipping hub, with maritime travel dating back several centuries.
