Vincent Rose was part of four all-state finishes while helping the DeWitt boys swimming team take fifth at the Division 3 state finals.
The Panthers finished with 141 points at the meet held Saturday, March 14, at the Holland Aquatic Center.
Rose, a junior, was the state runner-up in the 100 breaststroke and sixth in the 100 butterfly. He also teamed with Grayson Busch, Jacob Calewarts and Auden Lenneman to take third in the 200 medley relay and fourth in the 400 freestyle relay to lead DeWitt in its strong showing.
Carson Reynolds finished as the diving runner-up for the Panthers.
DeWitt also had Busch take ninth in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Ethan Delaney place 13th in the 100 backstroke.
Charlotte and St. Johns also had swimmers have all-state finishes. Charlotte’s Adam Rickerd placed fifth in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 100 freestyle. Marshall Hirschman of St. Johns took third in the 100 breaststroke and was ninth in the 200 IM.
Eaton Rapids had Parker Zaucha take 14th in the 500 freestyle. Haslett’s Gabriel Weir was 15th in diving with teammate Jackson Duck taking 16th..
DIVISION 2
Okemos placed eighth at the state finals at Eastern Michigan.
Kai Stibitz finished seventh in the 50 freestyle and was 11th in the 100 butterfly to lead Okemos. He was also part of the 200 medley relay that finished seventh along with Logan Moon, Hassan Soliman and Arda Kocas.
Okemos was also seventh in the 400 freestyle relay, 12th in the 200 freestyle relay and had Moon take ninth in the 100 breaststroke.
Mason’s Bryce Delaney was ninth in the 500 freestyle and East Lansing’s Colin Fitzgerald was 12th in the 100 backstroke to highlight other area finishers. Fitzgerald also anchored East Lansing’s 400 relay that finished 15th.
Waverly’s Dawson Beatty was fourth in the para 100 freestyle and the para 50 freestyle.
