The Michigan State Police Monroe Post is hosting Purses With a Purpose, a donation drive. According to a community announcement, the drive seeks new or gently used purses and backpacks filled with comfort items for survivors of sexual assault. Suggested donations include toiletries, socks, underwear and bras.
The event takes place at 300 Jones Ave., Monroe from April 1 at 8 a.m. to April 30 at 4 p.m.
Items collected will support Family Counseling and Shelter Services of Monroe during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Donations will be accepted throughout April.
