The Marysville 9th District High School Republican Youth held their most recent monthly meeting on December 4th, bringing students and young adults together for an evening of pizza, discussion, and civic-minded conversation. The event was organized and led by Youth Chair Ethan Kut, who has been actively fostering civic awareness and leadership opportunities for students across the district.
Speakers included Genevieve Peters Scott, U.S. Senate candidate, Austin Franzel, 9th District Youth Chair, and Griffin Boustead, 9th District Youth Treasurer. Each speaker shared perspective on leadership, the importance of community involvement, and the value of young voices influencing the direction of Michiganโs future.

The evening opened with a respectful and patriotic atmosphere, as attendees discussed issues facing Michigan youth and the importance of constructive political engagement. Conversations remained energetic but thoughtful, highlighting the goal of the group: encouraging young people to think critically and participate confidently in local government.
โWe want students to know their voice matters,โ Ethan said. โPolitics isnโt just something that happens in Washington, it happens here at home, in Marysville, in St. Clair County, and in our schools.โ
As the discussion unfolded, speakers emphasized the responsibility of the next generation to step into leadership roles rather than spectating from the sidelines. Attendees asked questions, engaged with speakers, and shared their own thoughts regarding representation, policy priorities, and the need for active citizenship among youth.

A highlight of the evening was the sense of unity and collaboration among students. Even those new to politics found the environment approachable and friendly, a reminder that civic involvement can begin anywhere a conversation is encouraged.
โIf we donโt teach students how to lead now, we canโt expect them to lead later,โ Ethan added. โThis group is about building confidence, practicing respectful debate, and preparing our generation to carry the torch forward.โ
