Local college students have received recognition for their academic achievements, according to community announcements.
Maxx Adams, a 2024 graduate of Monroe High School, was named to the dean’s lit for the fall semester at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. He is a member of the Men’s Varsity cross-country team, is in the Honors Program and is a member of the indoor/outdoor track team.
Maureen Smith of Monroe has been named to the Fall 2024 President’s List at Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology, achieving a 4.0 GPA.
Sofia Benardo of Newport, Rachel Claringbold of Trenton, Mich., John Illes of Carleton, Kennedy Irwin of Dundee, Jenna Krolak of Brownstown, Mich., Alyssa McFall of Flat Rock, Mich., Autumn Morris of Brownstown, Gwendoline Nunn of Carleton and Elsie Philabaum of Flat Rock have also been named to the Fall 2024 President’s List at Saginaw Valley State University, all with a 4.0 GPA.
Basil Valchine from Flat Rock is performing this spring 2025 semester with Albion College’s Concert Choir. Valchine is a member of the soprano section and has been with the ensemble for two semesters. Valchine is majoring in English and is part of the Prentiss M. Brown Honors Program.
Blaine Stewart of Monroe has been recognized on the Fall 2024 Dean’s List at Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions, with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.999.
Local students on the Fall 2024 Provost’s List at Ohio University include Nadia Angel of Rockwood, Mich., Joshua Czarniowski of Erie and Renee Vazquez of Trenton, Mich. This recognition is for part-time undergraduate students who maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Sierra R. Goins of La Salle, Mich., has been named to the dean’s list in the University of Notre Dame’s First Year of Studies for the Fall 2024 semester.
