The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office on July 17 reported that a woman in southwest Gainesville had been found unresponsive in a pool.
According to ACSO, at 3 p.m. deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators were at a home in the 7000 block of Southwest 79th Drive after receiving a report of an adult female who was found unresponsive in a pool.
The woman was transported to an area hospital by rescue personnel. An investigation is active and ongoing. ACSO said there was no additional information available as of 6 p.m. July 17. time.
A 20-year-old Chicago man died July 12 after an apparent accidental drowning at the Hidden Oaks Mobile Home Park community pool, 100 Castle Drive.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are several ways to prevent drowning. Among the agency’s suggestions: learn to swim, learn basic water skills, supervise swimmers, be aware if someone has a medical condition that might increase the risk of drowning because of the effects of medications, learn CPR, wear a life jacket, always swim with a buddy, and avoid alcohol.
