Hearing voices in your head is typically a bad sign, but for an Ohio widow it led to a $30,000 Ohio Lottery win.
The woman, whose husband died on June 17, 2023, just one day after their wedding anniversary, was driving home from babysitting her grandkids in Morrow County last month when a voice came into her head as she was waiting to turn left, the Ohio Lottery said in a news release.
The voice told her to turn right and go to a gas station near where she and her husband, Steve, used to train horses. The woman was identified only as “Angie” in the lottery news release.
Angie, who lives in Huron, decided to listen because she could get some gas before she headed out, so she went to Certified Oil at 197 S. Main St. in Mount Gilead.
While she was there, she purchased four scratch-off tickets as an anniversary present. As she scratched off the $30 Wild Cash Tripler, she saw that she had won $1,000. It didn’t stop there, between the front and the back of the ticket, she won $30,000.
After state and federal taxes, she will take home $21,975.
She recently blew the engine in her car and had to do major repairs to Steve’s truck. When she had the work done, she said, “I’m taking care of your truck, you take care of me,” according to the release.
She will use this money to pay off the loan she took out for those repairs.
This isn’t the first time Angie has cashed in on some lotto luck. Before he died, Steve bought tickets in July and left them in the truck. In the fall, she found them and decided to scan his tickets. The couple had won $30,000. The money was used to remodel their house.
