Dolphins make franchise-altering pick in new 2027 NFL mock draft

After finishing their 2025 campaign with a 7-10 record, the Miami Dolphins have brought in a new regime, led by Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley, to turn things around in South Florida.

With their new general manager and head coach, the Dolphins have overturned a lot of their roster, which has left the team without a lot of impact players heading into training camp.

If things go the way everyone expects, Miami will likely land a top pick in the 2027 NFL draft. In fact, Draft Wire’s Paul M. Banks recently released a mock draft that the Dolphins will pick at No. 1 overall and will take quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning, the nephew of NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning, was a five-star recruit out of Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, before committing in 2022 to play at Texas the following year.

After redshirting in 2023 and serving as Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers’ backup in 2024, Manning took over as the Longhorns starter in 2025.

In 13 games, he led Texas to a 10-3 record last year while completing 61.4% of his passes for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding an additional 399 yards and 10 scores with his legs. He also earned Citrus Bowl MVP for his performance in Texas’ 41-27 win over the Michigan Wolverines.

Miami gave Malik Willis a three-year, $67.5 million deal this offseason, but if the team ends up with the top pick in the 2027 NFL draft, he probably isn’t going to be the team’s franchise quarterback. At that point, the Dolphins could keep Willis as a backup and cut him before the 2028 season or try to trade him to another quarterback-needy team.

Quarterback will probably be the pick for the Dolphins if they end up drafting that high, but Manning will need to prove himself this year if he wants to be the first one taken in a supposedly strong class.
