The Sarasota Police Department announced the arrest of William Rosencrantz, 17, in a press release. Rosencrantz is facing a felony charge of second-degree murder in relation to this case.
Police state that Rosencrantz is of Manatee County and was arrested in Manatee County for a homicide that happened in the City of Sarasota on Tuesday, July 7.
Sarasota Police also confirmed the victim is an 18-year-old man, and he died of a gunshot wound after a call reporting a person lying on the ground bleeding at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, near Central Avenue and 15th Street.
“Solving a homicide in less than 48 hours is no easy feat,” Sarasota Police Department Chief of Police Rex Troche said in a press release. “We owe this to tenacity of our officers and detectives and their drive to keep our community safe.”
