The New York state Department of Transportation has announced lane reductions this month on a key Penfield highway.
To accommodate pavement repairs, there will be daytime closures along state Route 286, also known as Atlantic Avenue.
Drivers may expect reductions between the intersection with state Route 250, near Fairport–Nine Mile Point Road, and the Wayne County line in Penfield. Reductions will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The projected is expected to be complete by July 20.
Drivers should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to follow posted detours and flaggers near work zones, or seek alternate routes, if necessary. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
Drivers are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
