Notre Dame football enters the 2026 season with a star at quarterback in CJ Carr, but some questions as to who will step up as his player makers at running back and wide receiver.
Both major contributing backs from 2025, Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, were selected in the NFL drafts first round, while one of last season’s top wide receivers, Malachi Fields was picked in the third round. Carr won’t have three major weapons this fall, but it looks like that won’t matter.
On3’s JD Pickell ranked his top-10 QB/WR duos entering the season, and Carr along with transfer wide receiver Mylan Graham made the list at No. 5. This is a solid spot for the pair, as we really don’t know what to expect from the former 5-star after he transferred in from Ohio State. I think it would have made more sense for Pickell to pick one of the returning receivers, either Jordan Faison or Jaden Greathouse as his top target.
Regardless of which receiver is picked, could have also gone with Quincy Porter or any of the impressive freshman, Carr is the engine that makes the Irish offense go. There’s going to be much more put on his shoulders now that many of his weapons from last fall are gone, and that should lead to him putting up massive numbers.
