The Muskingum Valley League produced three of the state’s top pitchers, so it was no surprise to see them leading the pack when the coaches released their individual awards recently.
Sheridan senior Megan Ranck, John Glenn sophomore Kendall Snider and Meadowbrook senior Sommer Ginn successfully navigated a hitter-heavy league campaign as individual award winners in their respective divisions.
Ranck, who guided the Generals to a district final in Division III, was Big School Division Player of the Year, while Snider, the Big School Pitcher of the Year was a strikeout machine and power source at the plate for a Muskies squad that played in the Elite Eight.
Ginn, Pitcher of the Year in the Small School, and Player of the Year Addy Sichina dominated the individual honors in the Small School Division after the Colts won a league title under Coach of the Year Doug Pfeffer.
Mark Paxton, of Sheridan, and Kyle Porter, of John Glenn, shared Big School Coach of the Year.
Ranck, who signed with Mount Vernon Nazarene, hit .467 with six homers and 30 RBIs and was 17-6 with a 1.85 ERA in 146 innings. She struck out 137.
Snider, who was 18-4, piled up 334 strikeouts in 156 innings. Opponents hit just .112 off of her. She also hit seven homers and batted .407.
