The worse news: There’s more rain coming over the next two days.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for Vanderburgh, Warrick and Spencer counties at 5:19 p.m. The agency said an inch of rain had fallen quickly in parts of those counties, and that another inch to two inches of rain could be expected later Thursday evening.

The weather station at Evansville Regional Airport reported 1.29 inches of rain through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Earlier flash flood warnings covered parts of Gibson and Pike counties.

The only damage report received by the National Weather Service as of 6:20 p.m. was of downed trees north of Gentryville in Spencer County, Indiana.

More rain likely Friday and Saturday

The National Weather Service office in Paducah, Kentucky, said the Evansville area will almost certainly see more rain on Friday and Saturday. The culprit: A stalled weather front in the area that will act as a focus for developing thunderstorms that, in some cases, may track over the same areas.

There is a 70 percent chance of rain on Friday, a 70 percent chance of rain Friday night and a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday, according to the weather service forecast.

Severe weather possible again Friday

Some of the storms on Friday could be severe. The Evansville and Henderson areas are in a “slight risk” zone, according to the Storm Prediction Center.

An initial round of thunderstorms will move through the area Friday morning, and then another round is expected in the afternoon and into Friday night.

Some of the storms may contain damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes, according to the weather service.
