The NFL has ruled that there will not be a supplemental draft in 2026, which means quarterback Brendan Sorsby won’t be draft-eligible until 2027.
Below is a rundown from ESPN of what led to Sorsby attempting to enter the supplemental draft.
“Sorsby admitted to placing bets on a variety of sports and completed in-patient rehab for a gambling addiction. The NCAA denied his request for reinstatement in May, but a Texas judge granted him a temporary injunction in early June, making him eligible for the 2026 college football season. But amid a Big 12 lawsuit against Texas Tech and backlash around his eligibility, Sorsby ultimately opted to head to the NFL.”
Sorsby’s attorney says they will follow up with the NFLPA regarding the league’s decision.
The Colts have not been linked to Sorsby at all, but ESPN analyst Ben Solak did put together his list of teams that he thinks should have shown interest in Sorsby had the supplemental draft taken place, and Indianapolis was included.
However, as we detailed, that was a move that we didn’t see being on Indianapolis’ radar for a few reasons.
