Notre Dame offers 2028 legacy whose father played for Lou Holtz

It sure is a family-like atmosphere for Notre Dame football, and over the weekend it felt like that even more.

The Irish offered 2028 running back Xander Edwards, whose father Marc was a fullback for Lou Holtz’s teams from 1993 to 1996. The younger Edwards stands 6-foot, 1-inch and weighs 210-pounds and is one of the top players in the his class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 117 overall prospect and No. 7 running back.

Edwards current offer list is very impressive as he already held scholarships from schools like Ohio State, Georgia, Indiana and Miami. Head coach Marcus Freeman always banks on the past connection to South Bend with legacy prospects, and he’s done a great job getting them back to where their fathers played.

The hope is that the same result happens in Edwards recruitment, as the 2028 class could be yet another one with a former players son joining the roster.
