In addition to scouting the lineup and figuring out the path of least resistance for getting to the grounds, Summerfest 2026 attendees should also be aware of some notable security changes at the festival.
No backpacks or large non-clear bags will be allowed into the grounds this year, according to Milwaukee World Festival Inc., Summerfest’s nonprofit operation.
Here are the bag policy changes Summerfest goers should now.
What is Summerfest’s new bag policy for 2026?
What bags are permitted? Clear bags not exceeding 12 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches, and non-clear bags – such as small clutches, wallets or fanny packs – that don’t exceed 6 inches x 9 inches are permitted. Backpacks, large non-clear bags or any bags exceeding the size limits are not.
Guests may place personal or medical items inside a smaller opaque bag, then place that bag inside of an approved clear bag. Medical bags should be appropriately sized for their intended use and contain only essential medical items. Clear and opaque diaper bags are permitted up to 12 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches for guests with infants.
All bags are subject to inspection before entry.
Umbrellas, strollers, disposable and small cameras are permitted, though umbrellas and strollers are not allowed inside the American Family Insurance Amphitheater nor at the BMO Pavilion, and strollers are not allowed at the Miller Level Up Deck. Professional grade camera and video equipment are not permitted.A full list of prohibited items can be found on Summerfest’s security page.
