After earning MIAA medalist honors, Zeeland West graduate Rylee Smith made more history at Trine University.
Smith was the first Thunder golfer to ever be named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-Region team.
Smith established new program records for 18- and 36-hole scoring average. Her 75.50 and 152.00 stroke averages surpassed her season records from a year ago. Smith also owns the program’s career scoring records with career averages of 76.18 and 152.55 for 18 and 36 holes. Smith finished the season as the 68th ranked golfer in Division III, and the seventh highest ranked golfer in Region IV. The former all-state golfer for the Dux claimed four tournament wins this season, including medalist honors at MIAA Jamboree #3 with a school record round of 70, and eight top three finishes.
Smith became the first Thunder golfer to earn MIAA Most Valuable Golfer. Smith later lowered her school record round to 69, becoming the first Thunder golfer to break 70 on day one of the MIAA Spring Finale.
