Students at the Charter School of Educational Excellence in Yonkers spent time this spring rehearsing scenes for their May performances of the musical “The Addams Family.”
The student production, which involved students in grades 6 through 12, along with the high school band, was the third musical that the school presented and the first for director Keith Swingle.
“We have some new people involved in the production this year who have been able to take our production game and set design to a new place,” said Swingle, “and we’ve had students participating in the choreography for some of the numbers, and really making this a collaborative team effort.”

A school year is 180 days, with no two days and no two schools exactly alike. The students differ, the teachers differ, school cultures differ. Here, our photographers find what makes our school days anything but ordinary, the people and programs and events that make a difference, school day in and school day out.
