Rochester firefighters were called to the Pallet Express building on Lyell Avenue near Glide Street at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, June 7.
When crews arrived, they found heavy fire at the industrial building, according to the Rochester Fire Department.
Flames were visible from the structure and were rapidly spreading throughout the building, fire officials said.
Five alarms called
The fire response was upgraded from a single alarm to a fifth alarm as additional firefighters and resources were requested to the scene.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the Pallet Express building and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.
No additional details about injuries or damage were immediately released.
Cause under investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rochester Fire Department.
Power outages reported nearby
The fire also affected electrical service in the area.
According to Rochester Gas & Electric, more than 450 customers near Lyell Avenue were without power as of 6 a.m. Monday. Utility officials said service was expected to be restored later Monday morning.
