Alliance-area news in brief for June 5

FLAG DAY EVENT – A Kick Off Flag Day program is planned at 2 p.m. June 14 at Glamorgan Castle in Alliance. The event will serve as a ribbon-cutting for the 250 Flag Project in the Carnation City. Speakers will include Alliance Mayor Andy Grove and Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce President Rick Baxter. The event also will include free ice cream for attendees.

PORK DINNER – First United Presbyterian Church, 265 W. Beech St., plans its monthly pork dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 6 at the church. Dine in or carryout. Meals are $10 apiece.

FOLK CONCERT – Folknet’s Mountain Rose Spring 2026 concert season will conclude at 7 p.m. June 7 at Standing Rock Cultural Arts, 300 N. Water St. in Kent, featuring Charlie Mosbrook. No reservations are needed. Suggested donation at the door is $15, or $12 for Folknet members. An additional $5 covers all the children in a family with a responsible adult. More information as it becomes available may be found at www.folknet.org.
