President Donald Trump has reached a record low when it comes to his approval rating, according to a poll released this week.
The latest Economist/YouGov poll, released June 2, revealed about 61% of Americans said they disapproved of how Trump handled his job as president. Trump’s current net job approval is at around -26, which is the lowest seen in an Economist/YouGov poll in any week across either of Trump’s terms in office, reported USA TODAY.
The poll notes that Independents in particular have become more negative about Trump’s job handling with 21% approval, while 71% disapproved.
The nationwide poll, which interviewed 1,604 adults, was conducted between May 29 and June 1. YouGov said the poll’s margin of error was ±3.5 percent.
Iran war: Americans think conflict needs to end
The poll also stated that 68% of Americans say the U.S. should make a deal to end the war in Iran as quickly as possible, while 11% say it shouldn’t.
Americans aren’t very confident the war will end though.
Only 9% of Americans think it’s very likely or almost certain that the U.S. and Iran will reach a deal in the next two weeks, while 34% say the odds of such a deal are about 50-50, and 57% say it’s either unlikely (33%) or very unlikely (25%).
Inflation is the most important issue, according to poll
When it comes to the economy, the poll found 20% of Americans say the economy is either excellent (3%) or good (17%), while 76% say it’s either fair (34%) or poor (42%).

Trump’s latest low in the Economist/YouGov poll comes only a week after the president hit similar metrics in the same poll. In another poll conducted between May 22 and May 26, Trump’s disapproval rating was of 59%, two points lower than this week’s poll, USA TODAY reported.
The poll released May 27 also found 63% of Americans say the economy is getting worse, compared to 13% who responded it was getting better.
