San Bernardino County voters decide on sheriff race

As voters head to the polls, they will decide the fate of several locals seats, including San Bernardino County Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator.

On Tuesday, voters will decide whether Sheriff Shannon Dicus remains the county’s top cop or if a retired law enforcement officer will take charge of the agency.

Candidates

Shannon Dicus (Incumbent): Dicus was elected as San Bernardino County sheriff in 2021. He is a veteran of the United States Army’s 101st Airborne Division. He said he leads the county with a focus on “protecting families, holding criminals accountable, and strengthening the systems that keep communities safe.”

Joe Silva: Silva is a retired San Bernardino County Sheriff’s sergeant and a military veteran. He was employed by the department for 29 years. He said he is running to “fix the morale of the department which in turn helps the community.”

Polls close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2.
