Beloit man charged in May 22 shooting apprehended in New Philadelphia

NEW PHILADELPHIA − A Beloit man charged with attempted murder and assault related to a May 22 shooting has been apprehended by authorities.

A release from New Philadelphia Police Department stated Zachary C. Gill, 25, of Beloit, was taken into custody on May 29. A search warrant was executed in the 300 block of 11th Street NW by the department’s special response team.

Gill has been charged in New Philadelphia Municipal Court with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree felonies; and two counts of felonious assault, second-degree felonies.

He was booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail on May 29, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office website. Bail had not been set in the case as of the morning of June 1.

Special response teams from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the service of the warrant.
