The New York Giants’ recent rash of receiver injuries has reopened the door for a potential reunion with free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
After a quiet period following Beckham’s April 20 workout with the team, the Giants are now actively evaluating options at the position. The club suffered a significant blow when Gunner Olszewski tore his Achilles tendon, sidelining him for the season and reducing depth in both receiving and return duties.
Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports that the situation has shifted dramatically in recent days.
The Giants plan to add another receiver. They will hold a workout Monday, and Beckham is likely to be one of the players trying to make an impression. From virtually no shot, the chances of the Giants signing Beckham might now be as high as 50/50.
This does not mean they are sold on Beckham being able to help them this season. It might mean they are willing to give him a shot. Money is not expected to be an issue, as nothing makes much sense other than a one-year deal for right around the veteran minimum. There would be no guarantees whatsoever that Beckham would make it to the 53-man roster.
Head coach John Harbaugh, who coached Beckham in Baltimore in 2023, has maintained regular contact with the 33-year-old veteran. General manager Joe Schoen previously confirmed ongoing conversations with Beckham’s camp.
With key contributors Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton working back from injuries, adding a proven veteran like Beckham could provide immediate depth and leadership as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
