Texas A&M’s 2026 roster is once again led by quarterback Marcel Reed, who, during his first full starting season under center, threw for a career-high 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions during the 2025 season, but struggled during the Aggies’ final two losses vs. Texas on the road and Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Still, the former four-star prospect has continued to defy expectations as a pocket passer, and despite his late-season struggles, Marcel Reed’s dual-threat skill set has continued to place pressure on opposing defensive coordinators, resulting in the Aggies’ historic 11-0 start, including road wins over Notre Dame, LSU, and Missouri.
This summer, Reed, working with new quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch, will continue to address his remaining mechanical issues, while his decision-making in the pocket should improve after reviewing his 2025 film with Lynch and new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins.
Already adding healthy weight/muscle after working with the D1 Training team, Reed is spending his scarce free time giving back to the community by hosting his youth football camp at Wellborn Middle School in College Station (TX) on Saturday afternoon.
When asked about his “favorite” game during the 2025 season, Texas A&M’s epic comeback win over South Carolina comes to mind, but for Reed, his memorable performance during the Aggies’ high scoring road win over Arkansas, where the redshirt junior completed 71% of his passes (23-32) for 280 yards and and three touchdowns, paired with 55 rushing yards and a score.
This performance proved that Marcel Reed can lead the Aggies to greater heights, and after adding 6’4″ Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton this offseason, Texas A&M’s receiver rotation is a perfect balance of size, speed, and athleticism that should provide Reed with unbridled confidence in 2026.
