A man and woman, 73 and 67 years old, were killed by a wrong-way driver on Butler Boulevard Thursday night, May 28, in Jacksonville.
The 21-year-old driver going the wrong way also suffered serious injuries in the collision at about 9 p.m. west of Marsh Landing Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was in a pickup truck west on Butler with the other couple going east in a sport-utility vehicle and they hit head-on. The 73-year-old was driving the SUV, which also had a surviving 38-old female passenger with serious injuries.
All were from Ponte Vedra except for the 38-year-old SUV passenger who was from Wappingers Falls, New York. The Highway Patrol does not identify motorists in the initial crash reports.
The case remains under investigation.
