Check out the top prep performers in Manitowoc and Sheboygan

There was plenty of action to look back on from the past week.

Here are the top prep performers from the week of May 11-16 in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.

There won’t be a set number of players chosen in each sport in a given week, just including performances which stood out and deserve recognition.

This means there might be more or less than the week previous.

Another criteria is to limit selections to one player per team, per sport.

Boys track and field

Cameron Ferraino, Sheboygan Christian: Ferraino won the triple jump on May 12 at the Howards Grove Tiger Invite with a distance of 37-feet and 9.75 inches. Other area winners included Sheboygan South’s David Venegas in the 100 with a time of 11.05 seconds, Howards Grove’s Odin Schulz (400, 50.01), Kohler’s Oscar Gumm (800, 2:09.82), Ozaukee’s Nicholas Schubert (1,600, 4:49.86) and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah’s Cole Bunke (discus, 142-8).

Landon Kees, New Holstein: Kees was first in both the 1,600 (4:56.57) and 3,200 (11:20.88) at the Sheboygan Falls quad on May 12 while Sheboygan Falls Romann Alexander won the 200 (24.80).

Nate Dorn, Two Rivers: Dorn won the long jump (21-.5) and triple jump (39-10) at the Manitowoc County Invite in Kiel on May 12. Other area winners included Manitowoc Lincoln’s Cole Remiker (high jump, 5-10), Manitowoc Lutheran’s Trenton Schuettpelz (110 hurdles, 15.14 and 300 hurdles, 42.34) and Kiel’s Mason Schaefer (200, 22.80).

Girls track and field

Jenna Dirks, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah: Dirks was first in the shot put at the Howards Grove Tiger Invite with a distance of 39-5.5. Other area winners included Sheboygan South’s Olivia Knowles in the 100 (12.42), 200 (25.56) and 400 (1:00.79), Kohler’s Maggie Behler (800, 2:28.32), Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Brynlee Schmidt (3,200, 12:38.70) and Ozaukee’s Helen Utecht (discus, 105-6).

Nora Halverson, Sheboygan Falls: Halverson won three individual events at the Sheboygan Falls quad. She was first in the long jump (17-5), triple jump (35-7) and 200 (26.79).

Juliana Doerner, Mishicot: Doerner won both the 100 (11.90) and 200 (24.30) at the Manitowoc County Invite. Other area winners included Manitowoc Lincoln’s Natalie Portmann in the 800 (2:24.93) and 1,600 (5:17.03), Reedsville’s Allena O’Connell (3,200, 11:37.02), Two Rivers’ Julia Mott (shot put, 31-1) and Kiel’s Maddison McDole in the 300 hurdles (47.81) and high jump (5-2).

Baseball

Nick Braun, Manitowoc Lincoln: Braun was 2-for-4 with a run scored, double and four RBIs on May 11 in a 13-3 win in six innings over Sheboygan South.

Chuck Meulemans, Reedsville: Meulemans went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and three RBIs on May 11 in a 14-4 victory against Algoma in five innings.

Brett Rybarczyk, Sheboygan North: Rybarczyk was a home run shy of the cycle on May 12, hitting a pair of triples and a double while going 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. The Golden Raiders defeated Green Bay Southwest 14-0 in five innings.

Kaden Harrington, Kohler/Christian: Harrington went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs on May 12 in a 12-6 victory over Oostburg.

Will Franzen, Manitowoc Lutheran: Franzen was 2-for-4 with three RBIs on May 13 in a 10-6 win against Oostburg.

Cole Kuhn, Plymouth: Kuhn had a terrific game on May 15 against New Holstein, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs in a 6-0 victory. He also earned the complete-game shutout, scattering four hits over seven innings and striking out five.

Lucas LeMahieu, Oostburg: LeMahieu was 4-for-5 with a home run, pair of runs scored and four RBIs on May 15 in a 13-9 victory over Howards Grove.

Jake Hillmer, Roncalli: Hillmer went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs in a 14-6 win against Ozaukee on May 15.

Softball

Anna Cisler, Mishicot: Cisler was 2-for-4 with three RBIs on May 12 in an 8-0 win against Manitowoc Lutheran.

Anna Klein, Two Rivers: Klein dominated Little Chute in the circle on May 11 in a 4-0 complete-game victory. She allowed just one hit and struck out 13 batters in seven innings.

Bri Donner, Plymouth: Donner tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout on May 12 in a 2-0 win over Port Washington. She struck out eight and surrendered one walk in seven innings.

Reese Kraus, New Holstein: Kraus struck out 14 batters and gave up one hit and two walks in seven innings to earn a complete-game shutout as the Huskies beat Valders 5-0 on May 12.

Liz Neils, Kiel: Neils was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIS on May 12 in a 15-3 win over Chilton in six innings.

Laila Sanders, Random Lake: Sanders had a pair of triples while going 3-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs in a 14-0 win against Cedar Grove-Belgium in five innings on May 12.

Calla Nickel, Howards Grove: Nickel drove in three runs and had two doubles while going 3-for-4 with three runs score on May 12 in a 16-0 win over Ozaukee in four innings.

Cora Kroeplien, Sheboygan Falls: Kroeplien was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in an 8-3 victory against Roncalli on May 14.

Girls soccer

Mya Schroeder, Ozaukee/Random Lake: Schroeder scored three goals and added an assist in an 8-0 win over Manitowoc Lutheran on May 12.

Taavi Saeger, Kiel: Saeger scored all three of the Raiders goals in a 3-0 victory against New Holstein on May 14.

Kalli Knowles, Plymouth: Knowles had three goals and an assist on May 12 in a 5-0 win over Kewaskum.

Mya Grams, Sheboygan North: Grams scored four goals on May 12 in a 7-0 victory against Green Bay Southwest.

Teegan Heyn, Manitowoc Lincoln: Heyn had a pair of goals in a 5-0 win over Green Bay Southwest on May 14.

Natalie Grunwald, Sheboygan Falls: Grunwald found the back of the net four times against North Fond du Lac/Oakfield in an 8-0 win on May 11.

Arden Getschman, Cedar Grove-Belgium: Getschman scored two goals in a 5-3 loss to Ozaukee/Random Lake on May 14.

Boys tennis

Dylan Grueneberg, Kohler: Grueneberg won his No. 1 singles match against De Pere 6-0, 6-3 as the Blue Bombers prevailed 7-0 as a team.
