It’s time to take a look at the top spring sports performances over the past week for high school athletes around the area.

Boys track and field: 

Adam McKaig, D.C. Everest: McKaig took first place in the 100-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Parker Schmitt, Wausau East: Schmitt snatched first place in the 200-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Mason Hein, D.C. Everest: Hein took first in the 400-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Will VanSlyke, D.C. Everest: VanSlyke finished in first place in the 800-meter and 1,600-meter races at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Alex Jelen, D.C. Everest: Jelen notched first place in the 3,200-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12.

Carter Cihlar, Abbotsford: Cihlar took first place in the 100-meter race at the Marathon HS invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Bryce Deegan, Loyal: Deegan finished in first place in the long jump and triple jump events at the Marathon HS invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Jensen Rice, Iola-Scandinavia: Rice finished first in the 100-meter race at the Weyauwega-Fremont HS invite on Monday, May 11. 

Aiden Bowen-Iola-Scandinavia: Bowen took first place in the 200-meter race at the Weyauwega-Fremont HS invite on Monday, May 11. 

Luke Eiden, Pacelli: Eiden took  first place in the 400-meter race at the Weyauwega-Fremont HS invite on Monday, May 11. 

Evan Linjer, Iola-Scandinavia: Linjer notched first place in the 1,600-meter race at the Weyauwega-Fremont HS invite on Monday, May 11. 

Xander Dane, Pacelli: Dane took first place in the high jump event at the Weyauwega-Fremont HS invite on Monday, May 11. 

Cal Lusic, Amherst: Lusic snatched first place in the triple jump event at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Lions  invite on Monday, May 11. 

Zander Zawislan, Stratford: Zawislan finished in  first place in the 100-meter and 200-meter races at the Hatchet invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Cullen Thomas, Assumption: Thomas finished first in the 400-meter race at the Hatchet invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Michael Dolan, Assumption:  Dolan took first place in the 1,600-meter race at the Hatchet invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Connor Kreft, Stratford: Kreft notched first place in the long jump and triple jump events at the Hatchet invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

Girls soccer:

Isabelle Stevens, Stevens Point: Stevens scored one goal for SPASH in a 3-3- tie with D.C. Everest on Tuesday, May 12. 

Delaney Schatschneider, Stevens Point: Schatschneider, a freshman, scored two goals in a 7-0 win over Wausau East on Tuesday, May 12.  Then cashed in another two goals in a 7-0 win over Wausau East on Thursday, May 14. 

Amelia Castleberg, Stevens Point: Castleberg finished the week with nine total individual goals including a five-goal performance in a 8-0 win over Chippewa Falls on Saturday, May 16.  

Girls track and field: 

Sophie Plansky, D.C. Everest: Plansky took first place in the 100-meter and 200-meter races at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Madeline Kelter, Wausau West: Kelter snatched first place in the 400-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Ashlynn Zieske, D.C. Everest: Zieske took first place in the 800-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Morgan Pagel, D.C. Everest: Pagel claimed first place in the 1,600-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Kathryn Merritt, D.C. Everest: Merritt stood in first place in the 3,200-meter race at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12. 

Emily Jahns, Wausau West: Jahns took first place in the shot put and discus events at the Wausau City Meet on Tuesday, May 12.

Leire Sainz De Rozas, Assumption: Sainz De Rozas took first place in the 3,200-meter race at the Hatchet invite on Tuesday, May 12. 

 Softball:

Riya Ceballos, Almond-Bancroft: Ceballos smashed two home runs and drove in eight in Almond-Bancroft’s shut out victory over Pacelli. 

Lexi Carlton, Almond-Bancroft: Carlton yielded one hit and one run over seven innings pitched while striking out five in a 7-1 victory over Blair Taylor. 

Sam Nooyen, Amherst: Nooyen collected one hit and two RBI in a 11-1 win over Shicoton on Monday, May 11. On the hill she yielded five hits and one run while striking out eight. In the next out, Carlton struck out 13 to help Amherst edge Manawa 5-2. 

Kendyl Apfelbeck, Edgar: Apfelbeck belted a home run and drove in two runs in Edgar’s 10-0 victory over Phillips on Friday, May 15. 

Tenley Mauer, Edgar: Mauer tripled across two hits, two runs and two RBI in a 10-0 victory over Edgar on Friday, May 15. 

Rayanne Clendenning, Iola-Scandinavia: Clendenning yielded two hits and zero runs while striking out two in a 20-2 win over Weyauwega-Fremont on Monday, May 11. 

Rylee Hraby, Medford: Hraby yielded zero hits and runs while striking out 13 in a 11-0 win over Rhinelander on Monday, May 11. At-bat she belted the game’s only triple. 

Taelyn Jirschele, Mosinee: Jirschele belted a home run across three hits and drove in a game-high of six runs in Mosinee’s 25-0 win over Northland Pines on Thursday, May 14. In the next game, Jirschel batted two more home runs and drove in six runs in a 29-0 routing of Rhinelander on Thursday, May 14. 

Paetyn Jirschele, Mosinee: Jirschele smashed a home run across five hits, four runs and a game high of seven RBI in a 29-0 win over Rhinelander on Thursday, May 14. 

Pacyn Stoffel, Mosinee: In three innings pitched, Stoffel yielded zero runs or hits while striking out nine in a 25-0 win over Northland Pines. 

Addysen Henrich, Mosinee: Henrich smashed the game’s only home run, while driving in a team-high of three runs in a 14-0 win over Merrill on Monday, May 11. 

Rory Salvesen, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Salvesen smashed a home run across two hits, three runs and two RBI in a 12-10 win over Iola-Scandinavia on Thursday, May 14. 

Zoey Thorson, Wittenberg-Birnamwood: Thorson belted a home run in the Chargers 12-10 win over Iola-Scandinavia. 

Layla Patraw, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln: Patraw collected two hits and two runs including a triple in a 11-1 win over Wausau East on Thursday, May 12. 

Tria Tubbs, Stratford: Tubbs tripled and drove in five runs across three hits in a 9-0 win over Chequamegon on Friday, May 15. 

Adriana Bodner, Wausau East: Bodner notched three hits and three runs while striking out 11 in a 11-3 win over Athens on Monday, May 11. 

Jackie Beadell, Nekoosa: Beadell doubled twice and drove in a game-high of four runs in a 17-0 rout of Mauston on Tuesday, May 12. 

Katie Rose, Neillsville/Granton: Rose tripled across four hits while driving in three runs in a 18-0 win over Colby/Abbotsford on Thursday, May 14. 

Baseball: 

Michael Glodowski, Amherst: Glodowski got the win for Amherst in the circle, yielding two hits and two runs over five innings pitched, while striking out six in a 13-2 win over Shiocton.

Sebastian Andersen, Mosinee: Andersen collected two hits, three runs and four RBI, including a triple in Mosinee’s 9-6 win over Edgar on Monday, May 11.  

Davis Dernbach, Almond-Bancroft: Dernbach belted a home run across two hits in Almond-Bancroft’s 11-1 win over Rosholt on Tuesday, May 12. 

Derek Yessa, Athens: Yessa, a sophomore, drove in a game-high of four runs across one hit in a 13-0 win over Phillips on Tuesday, May 12. 

Kaleb Cracraft, Athens: Cracraft finished with zero hits or runs yielded across three innings pitched, while striking out eight in a 13-0 win over Phillips. 

Brady Berg, Stratford: Berg belted a home run and drove in a game-high of five runs in a 16-2 win over Auburndale on Tuesday, May 11.

Drew Woelfel, Marathon: Woelfel collected one hit, three runs, four RBI and a home run in a 14-3 victory over Edgar on Tuesday, May 12.  

Brett Olds, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln: Olds dominated with two hits, one run, three RBI and a home run in Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln’s 18-0 win over Wausau East. On the hill, he yielded one hit and zero runs while striking out four. 

Sully Perkins, Amherst: Perkins tripled twice across two hits and three runs in a 19-3 win over Manawa on Thursday, May 14. 

Jacob Ruggles, Amherst: Ruggles, a sophomore, notched three hits, three runs and three RBI in a 19-3 win over Manawa on Thursday, May 14. 

Grant Salber, Marathon: Salber collected two hits, one run and three RBI for the Wildcats in a 9-3 win over Edgar. 

Kaden Kolodziej, Mosinee: Kolodziej helped hand Rhinelander their first loss of the season, yielding four hits and zero earned runs, while striking out nine in a 2-0 victory.
