A pair of Wisconsin Badgers greats have made the U.S. Women’s Preliminary Roster for the 2026 Volleyball Nations League.
Olympian Dana Rettke and former VNL roster member Sarah Franklin have both been selected for the preliminary roster.
Coached by Erick Sullivan, the US women will compete in 12 matches spanning three weeks. Week 1 action is in Quebec City, Quebec, followed by the Philippines and Osaka, Japan.
Rettke and Franklin both have a busy summer ahead of them as USA takes on Ukraine to open things on June 3 and has their final match against Brazil on July 11.
Prior to all of that, though, is the Red-Blue Scrimmage, which takes place on Wednesday, May 20, in Manhattan Beach, California.
Both Rettke and Franklin were accomplished Badgers and have gone on to have incredibly successful careers.
Rettke accumulated a laundry list of honors during her time in Madison from 2017-21. As for Franklin, she somehow had just as many during her three-year stint with the Badgers from 2022-24.
