Josh Cameron’s Baylor bio

Quick breakdown

Cameron spent five seasons at Baylor and was a big part of the passing game the last two seasons, totaling 177 targets. For his career, he caught 170 of his 261 targets, good for a catch rate of 65%, while averaging 13.1 yards per catch with 19 touchdowns — all of which occurred over the last two seasons. The bulk of his snaps have come lined up out wide. At 220 pounds, Cameron did grade out well as a run-blocker last season by PFF’s metrics. Cameron was also a productive punt returner, with 45 career attempts, which includes averaging nearly 21 yards per return in 2024.

Josh Cameron’s athletic profile

Scouting report on Josh Cameron

“Cameron plays well through contact and has functional strength and ball-winning size, but his struggle in separating and avoiding contested windows will be a limiting factor. Though he has traits that intrigue NFL teams, development time is needed. – Dane Brugler, The Athletic

“Cameron is built like a big running back and is not shy about using that size, strength and body control to rack up touchdowns in the red zone. He’s smooth in tracking and adjusting to throws. Drops are a rarity. However, he lacks suddenness to beat press and needs plenty of route work to avoid seeing a heavy percentage of contested targets. Proving he can move beyond the relatively simple asks of the Baylor offense will be critical if he is to become more than a backup. Cameron has traits but the development could take some time.” – Lance Zierlein, NFL.com

They said it

GM James Gladstone: “He fits the bill for a lot of the things that I’ve long appreciated in wide receiver play, with both the guys that we drafted at the position. They are extremely tough, extremely good blockers. They are extremely good at attacking the football. So really excited about both him and Josh (Cameron) entering the fray. He is an impressive human being.”

Josh Cameron’s fit with the Jaguars

We know who the top four wideouts on the depth chart are, but Cameron boosts the depth and competition behind that group. He brings punt return experience to the NFL as well.
