See which FSU player is projected to be a top-40 pick in the MLB draft

The No. 12 Florida State baseball team has had a strong season so far, and with an overall record of 35-14 and a conference record of 16-9, FSU is currently fourth in the ACC. Thanks to the performance of many of their players, discussions amongst MLB teams as to whether some Seminoles will be drafted to play in the major leagues are almost certainly happening.

Per Jim Callis of MLB.com, it should be no surprise that Wes Mendes is likely part of these conversations. Mendes has appeared in his article predicting what the 2026 MLB Draft will look like, and he was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the No. 36.

Mendes has put up a career-low 2.42 ERA in 78.0 innings, which both lead the team, and a 9-3 record. His play is one of the reasons FSU has been able to remain competitive despite the loss of Myles Bailey. He has allowed 53 batters and walked 23, holding opponents to a .189 batting average and striking out 103 of them.

Florida State continues its season when it travels to Clemson for a three-game series against the Tigers. Fans can catch Saturday’s game on the ACC Network at 6:00 p.m. ET.
