INDIANAPOLIS — Lexie Hull hopes to play in the Indiana Fever’s season opener on Saturday, the Fever guard said Tuesday afternoon.
“Yep, yep,” Hull said when asked if she’s anticipating playing. “We’ll see how much I get to play, but I definitely feel good.”
Hull missed all three preseason games with a hamstring issue, and she affirmed that she has just been feeling tightness. She went through the portions of practice open to media as normal, including pre-practice shooting drills and contact drills.
Hull, who signed a two-year contract with the Fever this offseason, was originally projected to be a starter for the Fever at the beginning of the season. It is becoming more likely, however, that Sophie Cunningham will begin the season as the starter at wing as Hull works to integrate into the rotation after missing every preseason game.

Monique Billings returns to portions of practice
Fever forward Monique Billings, who suffered an ankle injury Saturday against the Nigerian National Team, returned to some portions of practice Tuesday after missing its entirety Monday. She suffered the injury by landing on an opponent’s foot in the first quarter, twisting her ankle.
Billings went through stretching exercises with the team, doing some modified stretches, but did not participate in the contact drill they did to start practice.
“I’m not gonna throw her out there today,” coach Stephanie White said ahead of practice. “I think we’ll give her another day to really see how she is. She’ll get player development work, she’ll just get shots up and in the weight room and training room, but, you know, we’ve got a full week (before the season opener). She feels a lot better today from when I talked to her.”
White did not say whether Billings, a projected starter at power forward, would be ready for the season opener. If Billings can’t go, backup Myisha Hines-Allen would likely slot into the starting lineup in her place.
