Florida baseball will host North Florida for its final midweek matchup of the season.
The No. 20 Gators (31-17) and Ospreys (26-20) met twice last year with Florida claiming both contests. UF leads the all-time series at 23-7 overall and 18-4 in Gainesville. The Ospreys are coming off a series win over Jacksonville, while UF won its series against Oklahoma.
For his efforts against Oklahoma, Caden McDonald earned the John Olerud National Two-Way Player of the Week honors while also being selected as the two-way player on Baseball America’s National Team of the Week. McDonald went 4-for-5 at the plate with 12 total bases, two home runs, two doubles, six RBI and three runs scored while pitching three shutout, one-hit innings of relief to register the victory.
Offensively, North Florida is slashing .260/.369/.417 backed by 45 home runs, 93 doubles and 63 stolen bases in 75 attempts. The pitching staff has worked to a 4.71 ERA, .246 batting average against and 391-to-189 strike-to-walk ratio.
After starting the season at 10-0, Florida has dropped three-straight midweek battles.
