Texas A&M’s Mya Perez posts a nation‑best on‑base streak

Texas A&M junior Mya Perez spent the 2026 season dealing with a challenge most hitters never face: opponents doing everything possible not to pitch to her. Intentional walks, soft tosses off the plate, and even hit‑by‑pitches became routine as SEC staff searched for any workaround to avoid giving her something hittable.

It didn’t matter.

Perez still posted a .434 batting average, one of the best in the nation, and separated herself as one of the most disciplined, productive hitters in Division I.

As the regular season closes and teams gear up for conference tournaments, stat trackers across the country are sorting through national leaders. One category stands out above the rest for its difficulty and importance. Getting on base.

Perez was the only Division I player to reach base in every single game this season a remarkable combination of patience, discipline, and sheer offensive presence. Pitchers avoided her, but she refused to chase. When they challenged her, she punished mistakes.

And when they didn’t? She still found her way aboard.

Her full 2026 line shows just how complete her season was:

Even Perez admits there’s still room to grow when she does get pitches to hit a scary thought for the rest of the SEC. But the numbers make one thing clear. Few players in the country handled adversity at the plate better.

With Texas A&M pushing toward the postseason and opponents running out of ways to avoid her, Perez’s combination of patience, power, and consistency continues to anchor the Aggies’ lineup.

Texas A&M will enter the SEC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face the winner of Missouri vs. Auburn in the second round on May 6 at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.
