Investigators are seeking a driver who fatally struck a woman with a vehicle in Phelan early Saturday, then fled the scene without stopping to help her.
Linda Teyechea, 38, died in the 3 a.m. collision on May 2 at Sheep Creek and Nielson roads, according to San Bernardino County coroner’s records.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian when they encountered Teyechea lying on a dirt shoulder, suffering from severe injuries, CHP officials said.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the female was walking in the roadway of Neilson Road east of Sheep Creek Road,” the statement said. “For reasons still under investigation, an unknown vehicle traveling westbound on Nielson struck the pedestrian, who came to rest on the right shoulder of Neilson Road.
Teyechea died from her injuries at the scene.
The vehicle and driver fled before first responders arrived. No description was available.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, was asked to contact Officer W. Benson of the CHP’s Victorville Area Office at (760) 241-1186.
